I'm going into 8th grade and every girl I know shaves her legs but me, even my best friend. My mom says I can't have one until I'm 15. I've been so embarrased since I was 12 and a half, and it's just getting worse now that I'm going to a new school this fall. HELP

you could try to talk you mom in to it. I did when i was going into 6th grade, and this year im going into 8th. My friend kahlani dinnt shave yet until a few days ago.You should tell you mom that you think your old enough to. Kahlani wasnt alowd to shave until her mom showed her how. They sat in a sink and kahlani had shorts on. If she says no, try suggesting nair or veet, or if you are really despreate waxing. Ask her how old she was. If all else fails, cry and begg and say you have no selfesteem, that worked for me

Find some good options on craigslist and ask them to check them out, make sure the seller give a clear esn number, call the provider and make sure its not stolen. Get mom and dad to make the purchase to be safe. That would give you some cheaper than new options. Until you work, and see how valuble money really is, you cant really appriciate it, so be patient on this. Parents do not like to discuss their finanaces, and at this time, they may not be able to afford one, or feel you havent earned one (good grades, good attitude). I know my kids never had a cell until they were 18 and working. To me, giving that kind of gift, that costs money each month, is a bill for an adult not a kid. So be happy you have something. I know its hard when all around us waste hundreds on new phones all the time. There are more things money can be used on, and that might be why a new one is not yet in order. Dont break waht you have, your parents can put the acct on suspend billable and pay for each month, even though you dont have a phone to use, so dont take that suggeston someone made. To cancel if you break it, can cost them hundreds, so try looking at craigslist, show it to your parents as an option ok.

I had this problem too. :) Talk to your mom. Things were probably different when she was growing up, the trend changes over time as far as shaving vs. leaving your legs hairy and it may not have been appropriate for girls in your mother's time to shave their legs. Let her know that hairy legs are generally considered unacceptable among girls your age.

A few other things to keep in mind:
-Time it right! Make sure your mom is relaxed and in a good mood when you ask her.

-Present your case maturely. It's easy to fall into whining if the conversation isn't going your way, but just keep your cool.

-Give her the impression that you won't be wearing anything really short! That may be part of her concern. (Whether you actually wear short things later is a conversation for another day. ^^)

Good luck!

ick...thats weird and i would react the same as you. i am 13 and going into 9th grade and every single girl i knew in my grade shaved when i was in 8th grade. i have never heard of omeone not being able to.hmmm. try using hers. she shaves...right? steal hers or if you 2 use the same shower just pick hers up and use hers. just as long as you know how to. also you could ask for bladeless. like nair or veet because no razor is involved an the hair stays gone longer. maybe she is just afraid that you will get hurt with a razor or something. then she could settle for bladeless. good luck!

Well, let her know that your going to need to grow up sometime soon. Also, tell her that you think the hairs on your legs is starting to bother you a bit. She will definitely think twice about getting you a razor. You SHOULD NOT whine or she won't even think about it. If you have your period tell her that the hair on your legs have been growing since you hit puberty and its REALLY embarrassing. I hope you get your razor!

Why don't you just go to the store and buy one yourself? It's not like you have to have parent's permission to buy razors. You could even borrow your friends razor if she has a disposable.

Try wearing tights that look like your skin color. Unless they snag on something, they look just like a perfect, unblemished, bald (lol) leg.

If your mom is worried about stubble, use diplatory stuff like Nair or Veet.

Explain to her how it makes you self-conscious, and since its summer you have time to practice before the hectic school year starts.

Good luck!
