My sisters boyfriend just bought a Harley and it does just what a Harley should- rumbles so loud that it shakes the driveway. This is well and good, but at 3am when he is just getting home it is pretty annoying to the neighbors (and myself) to be woken up by that. Is there such a thing as a silencer (like for a gun) for a motorcycle? Something that can be taken on and off as needed depending on the time? If not... someone should invent that....

There are a couple of brands out there now for harley that are slip ons. They have a toggle switch on the handle bar that operate an actuater that opens and closes the baffles in the pipe. Closed for quiet early morning starts ( and for passing cops) and open for loud and proud. Depending on what year the bike is, you might have to re jet as you would for any change of pipes. Or if Fuel injected, you can buy either a race tuner from HD ( more money) and have them set it up on the dyno (more money) or buy a vance and hines fuel pak, call them with your bike info and the type of pipes, and get the settings from them, punch in the codes to the fuel pak, and off you go. You can find those pipes at J&P Cycle online and get a free catalog at the same time.

He needs to get a muffler on that thing and quit giving bikers and Harley's a bad name. Some guys believe "Loud Bikes Saves Lives" but it just pisses people off and could actually get him killed at 3 in the morning. He's an A- HOLE.

all muffelers are removable . well he could maybe get a baffle in the tail pipe that will cut noise polution

lots of aftermarket pipes have removable baffles
but remember if it's to loud your to old
