I grew up in the 60s in Liverpool, UK which was as badly damaged as London in World War 2. I played in houses that had been bombed, walked on beaches that still had barbed wire on to prevent the enemy disembarking boats. I played in shelters which housed the Army. Built on sand, they had tiny slits just big enough for a machine gun to fire from and protect our shore. Fortunately the enemy never set foot on our shore but we knew why, we took the war to them, the war was fought on the offensive. I know this is a different type of war, we cannot identify the enemy but the ideals of Hitler were just as mad. Hitler could have been stopped years before but the world did not take his threat seriously.
The middle east has long been a threat to global peace, I wonder why the Coalition is largely made up of the same few countries that fought for peace in WW2 more than I question George W's motives & policies. I think a lot of +45 people feel the same but clearly you may prove me wrong :)

Hi Cantcu, I don't see the Coalition forces as being at war with Iraq. Having removed Saddam from power, they are now a 'peace keeping force.' working for and with the elected Iraqi government. Most of the terrorists are not from Iraq, most come from Iran and Syria & some have fled there from Afghanistan. The Iraqi people are now 'turning them in' because they have a growing faith in their own democratic country.
Re George W financing Hitller, the war ended in 45 so we know thats not true. My question was not really about WW2 persay however the irony of your last sentance did not wash over me. Isn't that what in fact happened in WW2. Hitler attacked countries with a master plan of ethnic cleansing in favour of a blond haired, blue eyed race but people, God bless them, fought & died to say NO. On Sept 11th a large terrorist group attacked the free world on US soil & people have again God bless them, are laying down their lives to say No.

Yes, but not including me! The intellectuals of our country did not vote for him as shown in the blue states vs. red states. The blue states (Democrat) are industrial, highly populated cities. And, a few Midwest states are blue, and both coasts are blue with most of the top tier colleges and highest educated people. Red states (Republican) are rural or lightly populated, comparatively. Many retired people move to the south, so your theory is correct, but I would add about twenty years to make it 65!

Iraq is not the enemy! And I played in the rubble of Germany for 3 years while my father, a career officer, was stationed in Heidelberg with the army!

We are our own worst enemy!

Well, I am over 40 and it is Bush who has gotten a lot of people killed while lining his and his friends pockets with our money!

Iraq has nothing to do with WW II, but Bush did have something to do with financing Hitler!

Maybe if Bush had of gotten shot down over Hanoi instead of deserting because he couldn't pass a drug test! But then I look and McCain and see how quickly they forget, so that wouldn't have worked either!

As long as it is someone elses kid! Along with all the war deaths, we have had 116 commit suicide and one who hired a hitman to shoot him where it was not life threatening just to get out of Iraq!

We have been a threat to global peace if you bothered to read what the CIA has been up to for 40 years, and I think it was Russia that attacked Aphganistan, and we followed! Then we took out a country that the CIA put their president in power because we wanted him to take out Iran, and supplied him with the weapons and gas to do it! Then we attack him over oil!

We are the worlds biggest nightmare! All we want to do in the Middle East is grab their oil for nothing! And kill their people doing it!

If some country attacked the US like we are doing Iraq, even to take out the idiot in the white house, I would be doing the same damn thing the Iraqi's are doing! And I would continue to do it until they planted me!

You are making the mistaken assumption that all Republicans are conservative. Not true. The reason for the growth of the Tea Party movement was because the mainstream Republicans - the ones who approved of what Bush did - were too liberal. Conservatives were outraged that Bush allowed all of the spending that the Congressional democrats passed.

certainly is a different war the enemy now does not wear uniform they hide in mosques and schools and hide behind women and children to make the coalition look bad when you have to go in for them.
they are not warriors they are cowards not real men real men will fight man to man not hide behind women and children
They are fighting in Iraq almost the same as they do in palistine,I think it`s best to go over there to get them rather than them come to our country here although I believe there are some cells on the ready to make there moves , those that are home grown and weak and feeble minded like Johnny Jihad was .
The suicide bombers can dream of getting there 72 blow up dolls but they will soon find the wrath of the strong and brave.
Like the sarge said on hill street blues lets do it to them before they do it to us.

Here in America most of the Dubya's support comes from the younger generations, the Hitler Youth.

Yes, because a lot of the older generation votes party line instead of individual candidates. Which is how 'W' got in in the first place; through party line and his name...wasn't on anything intellectual, that much is certain!
