162 games since 1961 for the AL, 1962 for the NL.

Furthermore, you can see here -- http://philadelphia.phillies.mlb.com/stats/historical/team_stats.jsp?c_id=phi&baseballScope=mlb&teamPosCode=all&groupByTeam=true&subScope=teamCode&statType=2&sitSplit=&timeFrame=1&timeSubFrame=1961 that in the 1961 season, the AL played about 162 games, while the NL still played about 154. Highlighting the "1962" option instead of the 1961 option shows that all teams, in both leagues played 162-ish games (divisional 1st place games are part of the regular season). Highlighting the 1960 option shows that both leagues played 154 games.

1961 for the AL, 1962 for the NL. The expanded season (+8 games, from 154 to 162) coincided with each league's first expansion years.

You can review team standings (including games played) at Retrosheet.org:
1960: http://www.retrosheet.org/boxesetc/1960/Y_1960.htm
1961: http://www.retrosheet.org/boxesetc/1961/Y_1961.htm
1962: http://www.retrosheet.org/boxesetc/1962/Y_1962.htm

In 1962, the Dodgers and Giants held a best 2-of-3 playoff to decide the NL pennant, causing both teams to play a record 165 games.
