We are such evolved to eat meat and veg. both. it is clearly understood by the presence of incisors and molars in our mouth.
But this is worthless that if we don't eat meat our brains would be deficient.
In fact approx 0.7 billion people in our word are vegetarion and they are equally intelligent.
There isnt any relation of development of our brain and meat.
Meat is a rich source of protein and if we dont eat meat then we can simply obtain a good amount of protein from pulses and milk.
Yea, on the basis of humanity and mercy, we should not eat meat. b'coz it is indirectly a killing of a helpless animal.

I was reading a Newsweek article that said that contrary to popular belief, our far distant ancestors (ie, cavemen), were not only strictly herbavores, but in fact were closer to the bottom of the food chain. We were fairly easy prey, but since our best defense mechanism is our superior brain, that well developed brain helped us to make tools or weapons that stopped us from being as easy prey. Our brains were evolving long before we started to eat meat, so I don't necesarilly thing we wouldn't be as smart as we are without it, but it's possible. There are many good nutrients and such in meat that are hard (not impossible) to get elsewhere. However, we did evolve to be homnivores, but perhaps God just did that to give us a choice. Just because we can eat meat, and it's good for us, doesn't mean we have to. Although I agree w/ those that said "meat is good."!

Chimps eat meat. There are many documented cases of chimps hunting, killing and eating smaller monkeys.
(Chimps also eat termites, grubs and ants, even making up tools from twigs to "fish" insects)
And there are a few cases when chimps went to battle with another tribe, killing and cannibalizing chimps from the other faction.
While it may be true that some of us may be eating too much meant for our own good, this does not mean that we should totally abstain from it. Our biology is based on a diet that has to include meat.

We should not eat meat because supposedly we humans are evolved enough to be compassionate. The sad, ignored truth is that animals suffer terribly in the slaughtering process. They die a terrifying, painful death. Then we eat the results of that suffering.
If you look at the stats you will see that vegetarians are far more healthier than meat eaters. They weigh less and have much lower occurences of cancer and heart disease.

First of all, why would we want out brains to be deficient?
Second, so what if animals suffer. We aren't going to stop it by becoming vegetarians. Even if people don't eat meat, people still kill them for their skins, their ivory, or because the animals are killing livestock. Also, there are plenty of carnivores left in the world. We just have to limit how much we kill so that we don't unbalance the food chain.
Third, if you need to ask this question, ask a vegetarian.
