Get pictures first, to prove that it was his tree that the branch fell off of, as you may need them.

Then, call the city cleanup, or a tree removal company, and have the work billed to him. Not your tree, so you shouldn't be responsible for it.

Just make sure you have the pictures ready to show to potential lawyers.

Call a lawyer just to be sure; should get 1 free consultation. Laws vary from state to state & from city to city. Have pictures of where branch broke & where it landed no matter what answer the lawyer states.

My understanding: his tree, your branch (if it hung on your property side). Then inform him (not threaten, just casually mention) that you will be cleaning up the branch mess and to prevent future problems you will prune entire side of branches on your property side just like what 'pontgranprix' had said.

Neighbors tree neighbors problem. Tell him if it is going to be your respondsibility to clean up branches from his tree you are going to prune the tree straight up the property line to stop it from happening in the future. It is legal to do but the tree won't look very nice. It could also put the tree under stress but hopefully he takes your threat seriously and cleans up the mess.

Well, they should have talked with you guys first to make time for them to come over and clean it up as they were cutting. Im sure you wouldnt want them in your backyard cleaning things up without you being home. So, call em up and ask them to clean it (when youre home) or just toss them back to their side. Have fun with the neighbors :) They probably think its your junk now!

If it is just a small branch, just put it in your trash can. If it is a huge branch which will not fit in your trash can, cut it into small pieces to make them fit. No big deal. It is better to live harmoniously with your neighbors.

Toss it over the fence into his yard, or drag it into his front yard. It is off his tree, he is responsible for taking care of it.

Threaten him with court. If that doesn't move him, go to magistrate court or call your homeowner's insurance, they will sue him after they take care of the problem

Clean it up! Don't drag it over to his yard, that's just rude. If it was hanging over your yard that makes it your responsibility anyway.
