Ok, everyone in my family has brown hair, my mom dad brothere sister, even all my grandparents. But, i have blonde hair. also everyone except my father has brown eyes. He has blue, and i do too. Is this rare, cause i thought the dominant trait was always darker, and what are the chanses of me having blonde hair?

Both your parents are heterozygous for brown hair that means they possess the recessive allele for blonde hair as well. So, by punnett square, the ratio is 3:1, that means 75% of their children will also be heterozygous brown haired and 25% (that is you) will be a homozygous blonde.
In case of eye colour, allele for blue eyes is recessive while that of dark/brown is recessive. So, ur dad is homozygous for blue eyes and ur mom is heterozygous for brown eyes. That means she also possess the recessive allele for blue eyes. So then by punnett square the ratio is 2:2, which means that 50% of their children will heterozygous brown eyed while 50% (in which u r also included) will be homozygous for blue. Things like your hair color are actually based on multiple alleles meaning that there's no specific combination of just 2 pairs of traits coming together to give you your hair color. I'm not sure about the dominance of these traits, I think it's just if you get them you've got them, kind of like codominence.

As for your eye color I think it follows the same pattern with the multiple alleles, it's possible that your parents' own genetic information combined in such a way that you inherited the blue eyes yet you could have gotten part of that from your mother and part of it from your father if you get what I mean; your mother of course may have had a certain multiple allele trait like the eye color where she also has part of the recessive lighter color. I know it all sounds technical but simply put it's alright, there's an easy explanation for it.

I can't believe these people.... Genetics is not SIMPLE! Hair color and eye color are not the work of just ONE gene with two different allele. Yeah, in the genetics textbooks, it's the easiest way to explain it, but in real life, we DON"T know exactly what genes correspond to a person's hair or eye color.

There are probably hundreds of genes that contribute to your hair color only. And just because brown hair is fairly common, it does NOT make it a "dominantt" gene, just a dominant phenotype.

The reason you have blonde hair and blue eyes is because you have hundreds, if not thousands of genes controling those expressions. And somewhere, in your family tree, your parents have theses genes, but some maybe be overshadowed, or unexpressed, due to the effect of OTHER genes.

Nothing is clear cut at this point. Sure, the Human Genome has been sequenced, but we have NO idea what segments of DNA correspond to genes, or what those genes express.

The probability depends on who has recessives for blond. If both your parent have recessive for blond then you had a 25% chance a being blond. Its all very random when it comes to which genes come together to produce which traits. If you have blue eyes and so does your dad then you got the dominant from your father.

The dominant trait is not always darker. In your case, your parents carried both an allele for dark and blond hair. Obviously the dark allele is dominant because it is more apparent in more of your family, and in them. For you, they gave you their alleles for blonde hair. For the eyes, your mother has brown eyes, yet will carry the allele for blue eyes because you have blue eyes. Your father has blue eyes so he also gave you an allele for blue eyes. The brown allele is dominant over the blue so that is why you have blue eyes, your mom gave you a blue eyed allele and your dad gave you one too.
