ok i have a 96' firebird, and i havent driven it in a while, i have another car i drive. when i finally drove it again it sputtered and smelled like gas. it sputters mostly if i have the RPM lower than 3000. when the RPM is over 3000 it seems fine. what could be the problem, how can i fix it?

no i ran it to empty and put new gas in it

if you have no check engine light. Check plugs wires , plugs, coil pack. fuel filter, Fuel regulator. fuel pump. smell the exhaust and see if the gas smell is coming from there. My guess is bad plugs or sticking egr valve. 93ta owner

Jessica Antime that you let a car sit for awhile it is going to have nasty little problems come up,Now you have fuel injection problems too because you are caught,between one car or the other,useing only one car while the other sits isn't good for it,fuel does go bad and with fuel injection like carburated systems the gas got old and then there is your clue,not to mention the other problem with it and it is called leaking fuel injectors which is why you are smelling gas fumes now.If you don't want this car anymore then sell it and use the money for the car you most likely use,let someone else worry about the repairs to the fuel system. first put new gas in it if it has been siting for some time, then new gas filter and a hole toon up wouldnt hurt
