aids was first seen in Prisons and poor African Countries .
How can you expect the people who are expected of inventing aids ,as a method to lower the world population ,now to start suplying cures
that is defeating the objective
There has been a cure for aids for many years
but it only available for the ruling elite .
Some say (and there are many scandals)that the cures that are on the market ,are part of the killing process.

NO.
There is a suggestion in these answers that it is up to us as individuals to prevent the spread of aids. If you are a married man/woman someone in a long term relationship do you still practice safe sex? Do you double bag? then re-bag, double bagged? use whatever has replaced nonynoxl9? Do you always use dental dams? Get tested? EVERY TIME you have sex? NO? Then YOU are at RISK. Just the same as anyone else.
Why? because your partner may have just started an affair with another someone who has also/or just had an affair with someone else. They all lie. Your husband/wife/partner is not going to protect you by suddenly insisting on safe sex.
We are all at risk. It is the government's responsibility too. Don't get to be a smug married. People die.

Reagan didn't see the problem: it's killing homosexuals and IV drug users, so who cares(they thought)? If it had been killing white men over the age of forty, the country would have been all over it, sort of the way health insurance began to pay for Viagra although it wouldn't pay for birth control.
Also(to their shame) the Gay Community, especially in San Francisco saw the quarantine of Bath houses where the disease was spreading as a way of condemning their lifestyle instead of a public health problem.
When a young boy(Ryan White) who had gotten a drug transfusion got the disease, that humanized the face of it, and made people realize that a disease that could adapt and mutate as fast as this one was a threat to the world, not just a few people who mouth-breathing morons thought "deserved it".
Even recently, our God fearin' Republican Senators said that we shouldn't pay for the treatment of AIDS patients because they were sinners; even infants in Africa with the disease.
It took a Rock and Roll singer and Roman Catholic(Bono) to remind Jesse Helms that Jesus said "As you do to the least of mine, so you do to me"
Our funding of AIDS treatment in Africa is one of the few things we have to be proud of as a country right now. If we could only get our self-righteous heads out of our a..es and allow condom use, we could prevent more.

The government and private industry has spent a lot of time and resources on finding a cure for ANY virus since they were first discovered. Aids is no different, just a virus. No cure for the common cold or aids.

When HIV/AIDS was new in this country, it was found only in groups that were considered to be expendible. President Regen had no use for gays, Haitians, or IV drug users. Why not let a disease decimate those populations. It was not until about 1984 when there was a dramatic rise in heterosexual cases of HIV/AIDS that federal funding was pumped down the research pipeline.
If a group of individuals is expendible, why ear-mark funds to save them?

Oh these answers are a hoot. Aides is a virus and there is no cure. Probably never will be. And only the liberal wienies think the government should do everything. It is up to us to prevent Aides. Forget the government.
On second thought, can't we just blame Bush for it?

They didn't realize what they were dealing with. They thought it was only among gay men, since they were the first reported cases. Once they realized that AIDS was one beast of a disease, it was too late. Now, that **** is everywhere.
It's easy to say that it's the government's fault, but if we were in that same situation, many of us would react the same way. It was an underestimation. It had huge consequences, but it wasn't done maliciously.

the government didn't spend funds to find a cure right away because they didn't think it would cause much of a big problem untill it was too late.
