I've seen so many people using the words of the Bible to state why homosexuality is wrong. When I read their answers, it just sounds like they don't have a mind of their own. You can't get them to listen to reason, even if you give the most logical explanation available. Can't they see that their way of thinking is controlled by a book?

no, but what some people do with the teachings contained in the bible is most certainly brain washing

Its the ultimate form of brainwashing. Religion is like a virus that makes people crazy and turns them against each other. It manipulates people with false hope and threats of punishment. The world would be a much better place if the Bible was dismissed as fiction.

The bible isn't a form of brainwashing, it is just a collection of books. What the people who interpret bible do is another thing entirely. The bible itself is just a thing that is used by people who want to control others... if it wasn't the bible, they would find something else to use. Don't blame the book.

Your first sentence is the clue. It is the people using the bible, not the bible itself that is the problem. And their thinking is not controlled by a book. Their not thinking is the problem. There are millions of tolerant Christians out here. Many of them are Gay. Are they brainwashed too? I think you just want to bash Christians the same way they bash Gays. So who is worse?

Faith is not rational . To them its not just a book . Not every christian is brainwashed , The real problem is that many manipulative people move in that world , and can really damage people w certain types of personalities. Often , its as simple as a financial scam . See the rick ross site .

I read the bible and I don't even know if homosexuality is wrong or right. I really don't care because I'm straight. I wouldn't say the bible is brainwashing though, because some things in the bible are true. My religion teacher said it is not wrong though, so idk. If people don't listen and have a mind of their own, maybe they don't know much.

usuyally it isn't the book that is controlling them. it is the way that they, and the people around them, choose to interpret it. just like any other book.

during the american civil war, and prior to it, americans and others used the bible to prove that it was OK to take blacks as slaves. we know that it is wrong but they would find bible quotes to back them up as they 'owned' human beings and often treated them worse than their dogs.

i once had a dentist who used bible quotes to support his favorite hockey team. i had a substitute math teacher in high school who used bible quotes to teach math theories. people can find quotes to fit anything. they dont always even know what the quote means and it is so easy to take things out of context.

If a person chooses to read the Bible, no.
If a person is forced to, or had to choice, yes.

Too bad most of the so-called Christians we meet have no ability to reason.

So... did you read "to kill a mockingbird"?
It's better for a man like Atticus to hold a whiskey,
than some others to hold some "holy book"?

The Bible is not a form of brainwashing. It is simply a tool used by those who brainwash people sometimes. You can read the Bible objectively and find wonderful passages to read.

Don't blame the book; the book is just words written by a lot people a long time ago.

The people who attack you have made the book itself a false god that they worship. They use Biblical passages to justify whatever makes them feel better than someone else; the Bible was used to justify slavery in the 1800's.

Some believe in no god, others of us believe but feel our higher power intercts with us in our own way.

It's just a book.

Religious people vex me frequently. Trying to reason with them is next to impossible, as they will always side with what they've been taught. Christianity is especially problematic, as as it is taught that you can go to Hell for opposing even one minor detail about the Bible. Thus, many religious people oppose homosexuality simply because a book tells them to, with Hell being used as a deterrent for thinking otherwise. These people really have no other reason for opposing homosexualitty. It's quite sad, really.
