As far as actual singing ability I'd go with Ringo Starr, but I like Lou Reed much more because in this case better vocals doesn't always mean better music.

Hmmm All Three Are Superb. It's Undoubtedly Got To Be Dylan Though, It's More Or Less Fact That He's The Greatest Songwriter Of All Time. I Guess It's Down To Opinion Though, I Personally Love Lou Reed And The Velvet Underground And Prefer His Music. He's Explored More Genres And Taken More Risks Which I Think Is Indicitave Of True Greatness. Not A Huge Fan Of Ringo Myself But I Respect That He Is A Wonderful Singer And Musician.

Well, I'll discount Ringo Starr from the question (with all due respect!).

Which leaves Reed and Dylan, and that is kind of like choosing between apples and oranges. In my opinion (and a few others' I think) they are both great singers. Sometimes you must judge a singer on more than traditional voice quality. If you judge them on innovation, feeling, creativity, even humor, then you will see what I mean. They were both ground-breaking singers (as well as songwriters/poets and musicians) and I just can't pick one over the other. They are both just too good.

Probably not Ringo Starr, his specialty is drumming. To be fair I'm not sure who Lou Reed is, but I like Bob Dylan myself. He's got a different style and thats pretty cool.

They are all distinctive to say the least. Non the best singers in the world either... I actually don't think of them when I think singers.

Yet, I will agree on the popular vote that it is Dylan. Not because the songwriting ability- but the delivery. He's always improvised on songs- changing up lyrics. He also does the emphasizing on certain words that make the song sound more crucial.

none of them have what most would call good voices. but bob dylans kind of grows on you, maybe its because his lyrics are so awesome that his voice doesnt matter that much. i like VU but lou reed's voice isn't the reason why. and ringo's not much of a crooner but i do like ''octopus' garden''. bob dylan's my fave out of this trio however.

Uhh, did anyone read the question? the best SINGER not musician, or songwriter. Therefore, the best SINGER, out of the three not -that -great singers listed, would have to be Ringo Starr.
