I'd give him double the morning duties tomorrow and take away his CD player. And the next time he asked me for an extra cookie, I would remind him of the lie.

I'd cut him some slack. Any gnome who can turn "Raindrops Keep Fallin' on my Head" from a soft shoe to a tap dance is a talented gnome indeed.
