Yes I always thank the person who gives me a best answer. It's polite and it shows a level of appreciation as the asker doesn't have to give you or the best answer as they may have more then one good answer that they could award best answer. If they don't leave an email open then I'll leave a comment to thank them. And thank you to all who have ever given me a best answer.

By the time you receive Best Answer, that should be the end of the session, right?
BUT, I have emailed my Thanks on occasion.
AND, I've sometimes also left a comment with my Thanks but, I am always left to wonder if the Asker actually checks back after they have assigned the Best Answer.

I sometimes do,I sometimes don't!It depends on the mood I'm in.Lol!I once got a message from another user that called me a racist because I haven't said thanks to the asker!
