we currently have a shogun which is used on and off road but since having our daughter we are looking for something more economical like an x trail which my parents own. as they have never taken it off road we don't know how they would cope with ploughed fields etc any suggestions for another 4x4 which is economical and will go proper off road appreciated.

I use a Pajero 28-30mpg running on vegetable oil with a conversion from www.elsbett.com also check out www.pocuk.co.uk avoid Land Rovers in my experience nothing but trouble.

I know a forester who drives an Isuzu. He is happy with it.
(isuzu now supply diesel engines for Renault Espace V6)
