I don't think they are afraid as much as deeming themselves above the fray, which is ridiculous. It is anyone's game at this point, and they want to narrow the field of also rans. Unfortunately, they fail to take into consideration they are among this group, too.
I am all for Kucinich, he is against the war, and voted against it every single time anything concerning it has come before Congress. See this link for how he would do it:
http://kucinich.us/iraqplan
He wants Universal Health Care for everyone. (HR 676)
He is against corporate welfare.
He wants to get us out of NAFTA and the WTO.
He has introduced legislation for the impeachment proceedings against Cheney first, because he doesn't want him to succeed to the Presidency by getting rid of Bush first. Cheney first, then Bush. Many balk at having Pelosi as president, but she will be okay for the time being until the next election.
He wants to develop a Department of Peace. It is beyond me to understand why some people think this is funny. Peace is funny? Are we so enmeshed in the war mongering and hate that a Dept. of Peace is laughable? If so, we are in sorry shape indeed.
It is time people started looking at ALL the candidates, and stop swallowing the media's picks without investigating for themselves the truth of things. I didn't pay Kucinich much attention before, until I started studying his platform and watching him speak.
Others should do the same.

properly, basically the applicants and or events with the main funds get in on the debates. it is a multi- occasion gadget, there are a number of extra human beings working for president than what the media helps us to work out, all of it comes all the way down to who pays for the time to have their voice and platform be heard....mmmmm gotta love the equality in that! If the powers that be have been worried of what he stood for or what he grew to become into asserting he could basically be assassinated ala King Jr, and a couple of Kennedy's.

Afraid is the wrong word. He doesn't really have a chance, because his message doesn't jive with what the Mainstream Media likes to push off as the illusion of what America is and what it stands for. If they're afraid of him, it's because Dennis doesn't represent their interests. He wants to represent the common people's interests. And for the past 7,000 years of capitalism, that just doesn't fly.
Which, of course, is what we need to change...

The rich, the large corporation, the military and its backers are in empire building and empire maintenance. No one is likely to get elected by openly running against them. I don't think Kucinich himself believes he could get elected without backing the military.
Have you noticed that even those who favor bringing the troops home are quick to point out that that is good for the military and how they all praise the brave men and women in the military.

Yes they are afraid to a large extent. This is one of the reasons of the big money race in the campaigns. Unfortunately there isn't much can be done about it at this time. All we can do to help the underdog candidates is to vote hard in the mid terms, local elections etc... to make real change for America with a comprehensible campaign reform bill. Money should not dictate who our leaders are.

Everytime Dennis Kucinich opens his mouth I like what comes out. I wish more people would really really listen to what he says before they make judgement.

I like him. Am I a nutcake too? I understand what he is saying. It takes all kinds to make the world go around. Isn't that beautiful. If we thought and went about life in the same way that would be an incredible bore. I don't understand the problem with pacifism. Once again how wonderful to be individuals.

HR 333, that's why.
The corporations don't want the Imperial Presidency to end. Do you?
HR 333... public officials being held accountable, it would set a dangerous precedent.

Why would anyone be afraid of Kucinich and his 1% of the vote?. Then again, why should someone without any support continue to be invited to the debates?.
