Yeah, it's about getting our votes. But we shouldn't be totally cynical. Serving the public, making our nation a better place to live, is at least one reason many people seek public office.

NO! They're all the same they all gear their campaigns to give their collective followers what they want to hear and act like they care and **** but they're all concerned about getting elected so they can fulfill they're own hidden agendas. Oh and both parties are just as bad.

NO! I have been told that my vote did not buy me access but the lobbyists had access. One elected Congress person told me that she did not have any interest in the efforts of the local party central committee (the cornerstone of grassroots activity). Will we ever have anything better - not until corporations are not people and we run the lobbyist out of DC and our state capitols!

That has never been the case. That doesn't mean they can't do good things for you. A politician is somewhat like a business owner. If he satisfies more people, he is more successful. That doesn't mean he can't be doing it for his own benefit.

It depends how you define "you". If you're the "you" who donated lots-o-money to their campaign, than the answer is yes. If you didn't, than you are not the "you" they are talking about.

Sadly, I don't believe a word that comes out of their mouths - repubs or dems......ESPECIALLY during an election year!
