I don't want to re-upholster the entire seat right now, but find some firm adhesive to hold the foam inside of the leather; does anyone have any suggestions that they have used in the past?

The trouble with the prior owners not placing covers on leather seats, so what you can do is this place good old duct tape over these areas that are ripping, then go and get some seat covers to hide the temp repair.
Leather seats are only popular in the US, in Europe they ilke cloth covered seats.
Good luck, do it right take your time and tape them with strong duct tape not some cheap kind, spend more now fix less later.

A pretty cheap fix is using a product like Liquid Leather Leather & Vinyl Repair Kit or Permatex / Vinyl Leather Repair Kit which you can get at any Autozone or even target or walmart. Shouldnt cost you more than $15.

Duct tape comes in all different kinds of colors, so try and get one that comes as close to the leather color as possible. Good luck.
