Actually, no. As smart as you are, I am sure you understand that this is a political chess match. If you were the President of Iraq and perceived the discontent of the citizens of the U.S., wouldn't you posture, and project confidence?

You need to expand your thinking to beyond what you read on-line or on a blog.

The second we pull out, there will be a vacuum of power. Warlords will rule in various provinces and even neighborhoods, fighting between sects will escalate to unbelievable levels, Iran and Syria will enter the country and be at war with Turkey in the North. Turkey will occupy the North. And round and round we go.

Whether you agree or disagree with the original reason for being there, we are there, and we need to WIN. There is no option. We must move forward, finish the job, and then move on to the next challenge...Iran, Syria, Hezbollah, Pakistan, etc, etc.

It's going to be a hard long road ahead and a lot of instability in the coming months and probably years, but if the Iraqi Prime Minister is ready to start the journey alone and lead his Country, and the Iraqi people have confidence in him, then I say it's time for the U.S to leave.

He said:

Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki said Saturday that the Iraqi army and police are capable of keeping security in the country when American troops leave "any time they want," though he acknowledged the forces need further weapons and training.

Note the last part of the sentence:

he acknowledged the forces need further weapons and training

That tells me that our troops are still needed, but they are getting closer to being able to take care of themselves. I hope that day comes soon.

I'm not for leaving until the job is done, but I would have say yes. The problem will come within a few months when they are back screaming for help because their forces are being wiped out and their people are being murdered in droves by terror groups.

No, because they can't manage. Once we go, if we go right now, Hezbollah will take them right over, in a blink of an eye. All of our work there would have been for naught, and the Iraq leader knows it. The reasons behind this statement are his own.

No, cowardice and not finishing the job is not what Americans do, you and your foreign buddies might like cut and run, but Americans are going to stay and complete the mission.

Ever try it, you know finishing the job regardless of the cost, since you gave your word? Probably not, guess that says a lot about your word. With friends like that who needs enemies, eh?

yes without a doubt. I think that statement is rigged though. How does he about face so fast?? I think we will keep patrols going for the oil but scale back significantly. Likely the missions will be to "get terrorists" these terrorists will be opposition to the puppet government.
