As I write, our attorneys are in their closing arguments in our suit against Hormel.
Spam is more pinkish in color. Hence our lawsuit.
Hormel had the audacity to promote their food product as "The Other Pink Meat". In an obvious and scurrilous attempt to identify a quasi pork product ,consisting mostly of pork lips, tongues, and a variety of body parts best left unmentioned, with what we all know is the true "Other Pink Meat". Of course, I am referring to possum.
It has only been in the last few weeks that they have attempted a rather shallow and ineffective compromise by trying to promote their product as "The Other White Meat" .
That is probably why you heard that misnomer.
A bit late, wouldn't you think? The damage has been done.
We at the Possum Advisory Board take very seriously our responsibility in promoting the possum as a true American meat product. Not some canned concoction, but a fresh pink and tasty meal loved by the whole family.
And lest you forget, while many people laud America as the originator of the "Drive Thru" eating concept, the possum was the first "Drive Over" complete meal. Well before Swanson came out with what they called a complete meal.

I love spam, especially fried, but I don't think there is any white meat in it..mostly snouts and innards, I think.
