i am doing a feasibility study and i am thinking of putting up a pet cemetery, but i am having concerns if the people within the area where i will have it may be concerned. How will it affect the place in any way?

We used to have a pet cemetery in the county above here. It was owned by a family whose entire family was buried there. Police dogs were buried there as well and it was permitted that people be buried next to their pets (you need state or maybe even federal approval for that..I don't know the laws on that). Even I was asked when I once wanted to place my cremated pet there if I wanted to buy a plot for me and my pets. However about two years ago I saw that the home was sold and that a mall would be put in it's place. I never heard what happened to the bodies there. I suspect people were moved, but what about the pets, and about the pets that were buried in a "one large" grave since that business also did the pet cremations for the entire area. I can't imagine that people who paid for the plots got their money back or had to pay to have their loved ones (family and pets) moved. I know what you want to do is a cemetery and a business, but don't you think before people go into this kind of business that they have well thought out ways of ending their business as well as for starting it? Usually churches have cemeteries, usually the government has forest land and park land set aside, but an "individual" owning something, well good intentions aren't always that good for everyone.

Sure I like the idea of a pet cemetery, and people do want that, and they even want to be buried with their pets when they pass, but how it's run is my concern.

I think you have a great idea. I am currently in vet school and work at pet care center. People Cherish their animals long after they are gone. I think the key to success is making it as cheerful as possible, bright flowers, poems, nothing scary. I would also consider, and this is totally up to you, giving the pet cemetery a name that puts people in the mindset that their pet isn't dead, but remembered and loved even after its passing. Good Luck, some people of course will disagree, but it would really be a helpful healing and acceptance point for most.

As people care for there pets more and more these days, pet cemeteries are getting more popular. I have a pet cemetery near me and I think it is nice to have one. There business is doing extremely well. People like it because they can have there pets buried (they have a casket also if they want) and can visit them whenever they want to. People also like it because they will cremate there pet for them, something many people choose but can't do on they're own. Overall, most pet lovers like pet cemeteries.

There may be concerns with increased traffic to the area, smell if there is a crematorium, perhaps vandalism at night with kids...but if the place looks like a regular cemetery i.e. landscaped nicely, like a park, I think it would improve acceptance.

Animal cemeteries are worse than people's cemeteries, i think,

you can do a survey of the people in the area, may be a bit depressing for people though

I don't want any kind of cemetary near my place.

It affects land values
