Well they are rather known for being opposites but you could say that they can both be very corrosive. They are usually aqueous, but not always. The both ionize when dissolved in water. If they are strong they both completely disassociate in water.

Acids :
Taste: Acids generally have a sour taste
Touch: Strong or concentrated acids often produce a stinging feeling on mucous membranes
Reactivity: Strong acids react aggressively with or corrode many metals
Electrical conductivity: Acids, while not usually ionic compounds, are electrolytes
Acids turn moist blue litmus paper red
Bases :
Taste: Bitter taste (opposed to sour taste of acids and sweetness of aldehydes and ketones)
Touch: Slimy or soapy feel on fingers
Reactivity: Caustic on organic matter, react violently with acidic substances
Electric conductivity: Aqueous solutions or molten bases dissociate in ions and conduct electricity
Bases turn red litmus paper blue
acids are electron pair acceptors

Both have a PH level Acid-.0 to 6.9, Base-7.1 to 14.. Many are organic. Acids burn (acidic), Bases are typically sliemy (forgive the spelling).
