Hello, I am almost 31 years-old, married and have a 3/12 year-old son. I am currently finishing my Bachelors in Social Work and my internship starts August 8 and I will finish January 4, 2008. It is 3 days a week. Here is my problem...

I have PCOS-Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome....Not to be too bold, but I do not have normal menstral cycles....Maybe 2-3 a year!! I do not ovulate.

I want to have another baby, and I went to the doctors and she told me that I would need to go on progestrone to ovulate...

My first pregnancy was hard, morning sickness everyday for almost 5 months, hospitalized for it for 2 days, preterm labor at 33 weeks and then bedrest until 39 weeks.

I feel like I should start trying as soon as possible for fear that I won't get pregnant, but if I do, there is a 25%-50% chance that my pregnancy will be similar my first one and I am afraid that I will be sick and it will ruin my internship.

I really want another baby!!

I am so close to being done and I want to finish. But, continuing my family is important too. I plan on having a child before going to work, and then I only want to work part-time to be home with my children until they start school. This way I will not be out of the loop with working and can maintain my experience as a social worker.

I'm sorry you had such a rough pregnancy!

In all honesty, if you want to have another one, why not start trying in a few months. It could take a while for you to get preggo, and by the time that happens you'd be done with your internship.

If it were me, I would talk to my doc about a realistic timeline of how long he/she feels it would take for you to get preggo.

Good luck!

Hello, I think it is a very personal question one that really only you and your husband should decide. You need to consider your health, family and career aspects of this decision. There are other ways to have a baby without becoming pregnant, not sure if those would be an option for you. You could always until your internship is over or almost over to begin trying. I do believe that whatever you decide as a family would be best. Good luck!

I'm wondering why you want another baby if you are working on an internship and are going to be a social worker?

You want to have a baby and then go back to work? This doesn't make sense. Why would you want a baby that you're not going to be the primary caregive for? If you are planning to finish your education and then stay home with the baby, I say go for it, no matter what the risks because every child is a blessing.

Choose between the job and the baby. You can't have both because both need your FULL time and attention.

All the best!

Go ahead and start trying with no meds, or just with metformin.

If you get pregnant, you might have morning sickness before you finish your internship. If you don't get pregnant, well, you have other things going on anyway.

After you graduate, if you haven't gotten pregnant, then start trying some other fertility meds.

For now, do ovulation urine tests, and chart your bbt and menstruation on bbt charts. On fertilityfriend.com , you can enter data online, and it will generate a chart for you. It is really nice. You can also look at hundreds of other women's charts to see how yours compare.

If this is something that you want then go for it. You have to figure in all the things that you are looking at though. Maybe you could wait until your intership is finished, but can't you always finish later too?

Yes you should work on getting pregnant (as there is no guarantee when it will happen). You education can always be put on hold and/or your program can and will work with you. Most social work programs will make accommodation for legitimate issues...which pregnancy will be. And you may not get pregnant right away. DA
