I've noticed over the last two years that it's become somewhat difficult to urinate while sitting down. I'm a man, 23, in otherwise good health. My stream in general often takes maybe 5-10 seconds to start when standing, but when sitting, it's worse and my stream is pretty thin and slow. The first things that come to mind are an enlarged prostate or bladder cancer, but at my age, is either of these likely?

You could have some enlarging of the prostate but at your age you are right it is not common. It could be an inflammation of the prostate called prostatitis. That can be treated aggressively with antibiotics. Bladder cancer could cause those symptoms as well. It is best to get an evaluation by your PCP or a urologist. Normally they would do a DRE to determine the size of the prostate and also a urinalysis to check for anything in the urine. The urine test can also check for cancer.

Prostatitis can linger for a long time. It usually doesn't clear up on it's own .

My friend, and pardon my language, get your *** to a urologist asap. Two years? The most common ages of getting prostate cancer is between 18 and 35. You are playing with fire. Prostatitis would have cleared up by now on its own.

Enlarged prostate is more likely than cancer. Probably easily fixed. Just see your doctor or a urologist.
