I think any liberal would be honored by the analogy.

Respecting wisdom over brute force, trying to find win-win situations, not acting out of blind rage or mindless fear, respecting the rule of law, using force only when and as necessary to end a conflict....

And yes, the Jedi were betrayed by power-hungry politicians who were more concerned with their own agenda than what the law allowed, and who acted with the intent of destroying the republic because they didn't care about anyone else.

Good analogy.

No, The Jedi knew how to fight when they had to. They just didn't actively look for fights.Look at Yoda in the second and third.

The Empire however is very close to communism/dictatorship, SO, They are more like liberals.
Fairness Doctrine, Affirmitive Action, Socialized Medicine and Healthcare, Higher Taxes.
