If a person receives a single bite from a wolf, they will experience pain in the area of the bite, swelling, and may possibly require stitches or life-saving measures may need to be taken depending on the severity of the bite. The bite could lead to serious infections, which could lead to hydrophobia, but lycanthropic metamorphosis will never happen.

well you are definitely not gonna turn into a warewolf. but you might get rabies.

actually the folklores of warewolves are loosely based upon the rabies infected people.

when a person is infected, they start acting like deranged and make strange sounds, since their throat is getting closed up because of the infection.

they also feel excess thirst but they cant drink water or anything due to their condition.
they start foaming at the mouth and act violently towards others, because of their frustration.

worst of all they were sometimes subjected to violent exorcism because to other people they way they are acting, they look like they are possesed with some demon spirit.

many were killed but anyways they dint have much long to live without mediation.

the warewolf myth is based on all this stuff added up, since in those days they dint know what was going on, they must have thought that after he got bitten by a dog, he starts acting strange and deranged and violent so he became a dog(or a wolf, since wolves were common those days and getting bitten by a wolf was definitely a possiblity)

it must have seemed like such a logical explanation then. and ofcourse as it always happens with any good folklore, it spread very quickly, and people started adding their own little details to make it more interesting.

thats how we got our warewolves.

If it's one bite and not puncturing an artery, you'll be OK - just in pain.
You won't catch rabies, unless the wolf was rabid itself.

You need to rub or wear Wolfsbane (a wild flower) to prevent becoming a Werewolf. It's also called Aconite.
Aconite has been ascribed with supernatural powers relating to werewolves and other lycanthropes, either to repel them, relating to aconite's use in poisoning wolves and other animals, or in some way induce their lycanthropic condition, as aconite was often an important ingredient in witches' magic ointments. In folklore, Aconite was also said to make a person into a werewolf if it is worn, smelled, or eaten. They are also said to kill werewolves if they wear, smell, or eat aconite.
If you know anyone who practices Wiccan - they might be able to get you some.

Wolves still kill people in India every year, especially children.
Before modern guns, many people in Finland and Russia were killed by packs of wolves, sometimes more than 1 person at a time.

I heard that during a special full moon and you have Wolf's Bane under your pillow when you sleep that night, that you turn into a Werewolf.

Dont' believe you'll become a Werewolf by being bitten though.

Rabies is the thing you should worry about.

Being bitten by a wolf will not make you a werewolf unless of course the wolf is actually a human in his animal form.

This usually occurs on the full moon.

A wolf isn't the same as a werewolf - wolves are wonderful creatures. werewolf activity is supposed to be caused by a chemical found in Urgot fungus (not sure how to spell it!) and affects humans, not wolves. By the way, wolf bane is supposed to keep werewolves away, not turn you into one - hence the name, wolf BANE.

a wolf is not a were wolf , a wolf is what all dogs descend from , a werewolf is a wolf cross man,

if you want to be a werwolf , youv got a better chance of it happening by letting a wolf phook you rather than bite you

The person would get hurt and start bleeding, and might possibly get rabies or some other disease if the wolf happens to have it. Werewolves, however, do not exist and there is no scientific evidence supporting their existence.
