ok so im on alesse-28 for almost a year now and everything has worked perfectly for me. until now. ive read in magazines/internet/from friends that if you have a special occasion you can not do your sugar pills and start another pack.. so i had a very important holiday and i tried it out. not only did i still get my period, it was supposed to stop 9 days ago.. it usually lasted about 5 days. it keeps changing from very light like a little brown to a little bit of blood. i dont know what to do. im still continuing with my pills and i have 1 more week until im supposed to have another period. but i dont think i will. so should i continue with them or i was thinking stop them until my period ends then restart another pack?

im still on my perio and my sugar pills start in 5 days. my period is actually like im on it now. its not just a little bit of blood. how is all of this still happening wouldnt i run out! haha i hope it stops soon and i can get it back to normal.

Continue your Alesse until your sugar pills. Hopefully you will have a regular period and be able to start your next pack like normal. Sometimes with low dose OCP's like Alesse, it's a little more difficult to do extended cycling for some women. If you would like to do this more often consider asking your doctor for a 30mcg Estrogen pill or look into Seasonique which is packaged for you to have a period every 3 months rather than monthly.

Continue with it the pills and go on to the next pack even if you do not get your period.
Next time, don't listen to magazine articles or other people's opinions. Talk to your DOCTOR about what to do and the consequences of doing what they suggest.
