Calm down, I stated this at the end of last season that the Yankees are looking toward the future opposed to the present with two major goals, one is to win the worlds Series in 2008 or 2009 to either close Yankee Stadium or open the New Yankee Stadium. A transsition period began with getting rid of Sheffeild, Wright and Johnson for pitching prospects. They have drafted pitching in the last three drafts and have some excellent arms coming up in the minors that will be ready by 2009 the latest barring injury. Also by the end of next season Giambi (21 million), Mussina (15 million), Pettitte (15 million), Pavano (11 Million), Farnsworth (5 million) and Abreau (15 Million) will all be off the roster adding flexibility. You have Chris Basik who will replace Miguel Cairo as the utility guy which will lower payroll, a rotation featuring Wang, Hughes, Chamberlinthen some combination of Ian Kennedy, Tyler Clippard, Matt DeSalvo, and maybe a free agent like a CC Sabathia (who would be a cheaper fit than Johan Santana). The Bullpen will have Rivera winding down his career with Humberto Sanchez (had Tommy John surgery this season ironically Mo Rivera had Tommy John surgery back in 1993), JB Cox, Edwar Ramirez (if he can continue what he has done so far in his limited role) The position players should be 1b- Phillips (a Sean Casey type player 270 - 290 hitter with a little pop and a gret glove at first) or possibly Juan Moiranda a Cuban defector playing at AA right now, 2b - Robinson Cano, SS- Jeter, 3b - a younger player or free agent, rf - Jose Tabata ( he may be ready a year later than this but he is progressing fine in the minors), CF - Melky Cabrera, LF - Matsui (final year of his contract). Catching will be Jorge splitting time at Catcher, Firtbase and DH. A free agent or a Joe Girardi type catcher.
Managing will be the major difference between Don Mattingly and Joe Girardi getting the nod, Donnie would thrive in this role and I believe he is being groomed for the job.

I do not have any reassurance but i can say this, im a huge a-rod fan, i think he is great and support the yankees in trying to bring him back next year. But i think since he will not talk about an extension during the season, and because there is no guarantee that he sticks around, i have to say trade him for some prospects and some good young starters...ur right posida and Mo arent getting any younger and i love posada too but i think its time to rebuild from the last 5-10 years the yankees learned one thing...you cant stack your team with old but solid veterans you have to build up and i think that may be the right direction...I have a feeling a-rod may be heading to the braves if they can get the money to work out right. A-rod sent to the braves for brian mccann and maybe a pitcher?...that would solve your problem w/ an aging posada and would allow you to let him walk if he wanted to...this also solves the braves problem in catcher being jammed up with mccann and alows the highly touted prospect saltalamaccia to start. As for Mo, make a trade send bobby abreu back to the phillies along w/ jorge (if you swing the deal for mccann) for Pat Burrell, tom gordon and brett myers (for a replacement to mo? He does have the closers mentality) This way the phillies get the expiring contract of abreu and jorge, and yanks get a proven setup man in gordon, a new dh for the time being in burrell (he needs a change in scenery) and a potential replacement to mo and if not replacement tehn a solid starter to boost a rotation that has been pretty bad this year. even if these trades never do happen the yankees need to shake things up to try and jump start this team for a push to the playoffs

Trust me , Jorge and Mo are not leaving this team without their World Series rings witht the Yankees Especially Arod. I still think they will make the playoff in some various reasons but to make it, they need these players. Last year they got Bobby Abreu on the trade deadline and so maybe this year trade deadline, the yanks will get something special by a trade or whatnot. PLUS, the yanks are not falling apart because they alot of young and very young pitcher prospects and hitters in the minor league like Phil Huges so dont freak out.

Before you were born, the Yankees had some decidedly mediocre teams; sometimes, genuinely bad ones.
It happens. It's happening now, that the cycle is coming around again. It just tends to take longer for the Yankees, but it is their turn.
The sun will come up tomorrow, and the next day, and even on 01-October-2007 when only eight teams are still playing on and the Yankees are not among them.
This too shall pass.
Freak out if you want, but it doesn't change anything and probably doesn't help, either.

im getting freaked out about the season we are having and i hope the yankees sign jorge posada becuase he is a really great cather, a-rod we need him he is the best player right now, and mariano they should resign him because he will become the best closer here soon , and if there was one person we couldnt sign , i d rather not sign Giambi other than the other guys, but Giambi is a great player still but we should get a new 1st basemen

My teams are Yankees/Jets My cousin, who lives in New England is Yankees/Patriots and I'm all over him about it all the time. Here is what I say to him. "When you're in a sports bar watching the Patriots, or at a Patriots game, and they score a touchdown, and you cheer and high five other fans, the fans you are celebrating with are the same exact fans who yell 'Yankees Suck' and hate the Yankees in the summer. Doesn't that make you feel like a traitor to the Yankees? A team you claim to love"

If a A-Rod leave you guys will gain 32 mil to spend on other players like PITCHING. Lo Duca is on the last year of his contract the Yanks can try to get him if they dont sign Lu Duca. This off season there wont be a lot of good free agents like last year so watch them do trades with some prospects.

your boat is sinking fast yankee fans!!!!! what few classy players have been brought up through your system- bernie, posada, rivera, dont want to be on a team anymore that unceremoniously kicks good prospects to the curb in favor ofa quick fix, you will NOT make the playoffs, you WILL loose a-rod, posada and rivera and it will take years to repair your farm
