Q1) 36x^2 + 3x - 5 = 0

Here it goes:
36x^2 + 3x - 5 = 0
..........3x can be written as 15x -12x...so

36x^2 + (15x - 12x) - 5=0
(36x^2 + 15x) - (12x + 5) = 0
3x(12x +5) - (12x + 5) = 0
(3x-1)(12x+5) = 0
now 3x-1 = 0 yields
3x = 1
x =1/3
(12x+5) = 0 yields..
12x = -5
x =-5/12
Hence there are two solutions x = 1/3, -5/12

Hope the other can also be solved like this.

we just did these at the end of last semester...you can either use "completing the square" method or the quadratic formula...if you know either one, the problems become fairly simple.
