I hear a lot of people complain that baseball games are too long. So what?... Most baseball games are played within 3 hours, assuming it doesn't go into extra innings. NFL games take 3 hours as well, and about half of that is advertising.

Baseball is a beautiful sport for one reason. No time limit. You're playing against the other team.... not a stupid time clock. Think about it. There are absolutey no "time-wasting" plays in baseball... because there's no time limit. Nothing is worse than watching 3 kneel downs to end an nfl game. Or watching a player dribble a basketball for 20 seconds without moving.

Now basketball is a game that takes too long. A foul on every play, a timeout between most free throws, not to mention each team gets like 10 timeouts.

Baseball is supposed to take a long time to play. Otherwise they would implement a time limit. But again.. thats the beauty of the game... they dont have to play against a clock.

I've never understood this, complaining that games take too long.

If you've got something you'd rather be doing, get up and go do it. No one is required to stay for the whole game, no one will stop you leaving.

Me, if I'm watching a game, or actually in attendance, I am doing the very thing I most want to be doing. I don't much care how long it takes. Extra innings are free baseball.

I once stayed for an entire 18-inning game, along with the dear wife. I offered her several times to leave early, as it was getting quite late and she was then pregnant (still early). She always declined; we stayed. Went over 6 1/2 hours; there were maybe 3000 fans left (and still no balls came our way, sigh). The winning run finally scored, by a whisker -- had the runner been out we'd have gone to the 19th, which would have been fine by me -- and we had a nice, pleasant walk back to our hotel. It was a great evening.

Baseball is a game that has to be understood to be appreciated. Outsiders or casual fans don't get the same enjoyment out of a game like someone like myself. It's a beautiful sport without the constraints of time and I love that about it. That being said, I love football and basketball as well. To each their own I say. I just hate when people say baseball is "boring and stupid" and things like that. How about you go out and actually try to understand the game and strategy of the game and then come talk to me.

When my wife and I started dating, I took her to a baseball game. She didn't like baseball at the time. Anyway, I told her I would explain anything and everything to her, and to just ask me. I did that day and showed her what everything meant and why they did this and that. Long story short, she is now just as big of an Astros fan as I am. She could hold an intelligent conversation about baseball with the best of them. I'm sure she is on this screen name sometimes making conversation and you probably wouldn't know the difference.

Because baseball is the most boring sport in the world. Why anyone still goes to games is a mystery to me.
