Should virgins use them? I heard it is a bad idea?

I am in my 20's and have always worn a pad and Im tired of it. Is it safe to use a tampon, do you think? Is there a particular kind I should check out?

Also, what is this toxic shock syndrome?

Thank you.

Many older women and men are disturbed by the idea of penetration, even if you are only inserting a tampon. They particularly don't like the idea of their young daughter inserting a tampon, so they tell them that tampons are not appropriate for virgins. Many parents believe that you will puncture your hymen if you wear tampons and therefore "technically" will not be a virgin anymore, or they remember hearing their own mother tell them not to use tampons, so they assume that they are unsafe for virgins. Don't worry, you will absolutely not puncture your hymen by inserting a tampon. They are just as safe for a 13 yr old virgin as they are for a 30 yr old mother. All women should try to change their tampon regularly, and use the least absorbent tampon necessary. Doctors recommend that you do so in order to avoid toxic shock syndrome. It is a serious but rare illness associated with the use of tampons. I suspect that you will receive a lot answers like this one: "Virgins should absolutely NOT use tampons!!!" Just remember that they are only repeating what their mothers told them. Go purchase a box of tampons, read the inclosed instructions, and you will notice that they do not contain a warning saying that virgins or young girls should not use them. They do contain a warning, for all women, about toxic shock syndrome and how to avoid getting it. Keep in mind that you will probably still need to wear a small pantyliner, even if you do choose to finally start wearing tampons.

it is fine to wear a tampon. i recently found out that women think of white as clean but the color of cotton is beige and they bleach the tampons so they are white you can by non-bleached tampons at stores were they sell organics. Henry's or sprouts i don't know if you have those were you live. bleach should not be going into our bodies and tss(toxic shock syndrome) is a disease that can happen if you leave a tampon in all day and when you dont wash your hands before inserting the tampon or when you use like a super tampon on a regular or light day.
there is more info in the instructions inside the box.

Is it okay to use tampons, but don't use the tampon for an extended period of time, like over 7-8 hours. Replace the tampons or alternate between pads and tampons. You should try using one with plastic applicators, it will be easier to insert. I don't recommend cardboard applicators as they can hurt.
I've heard tampons may help when it comes to starting to breakup hymen. If you are a virgin, you likely can still experience pain during sex the first time but MAY not experience as much bleeding because the tampons possibly "broke" up some hymen.

It is perfectly fine. (They DO NOT take away virginity!)

Tampons are safe. Start with ones with plastic applicators since they are smoother. Try Tampax Pearl.

Remember TSS is VERY rare. As long as you change your tampon within 8 hours, you should be fine.
