Because they have worked it out. Cheating is generally a symptom of something greater. If you are able to forgive an indescretion, and are willing to work on that greater problem, then many couples can get past that.
Also, it depends on the couple. Some people stay with a cheater out of desperation. Others because they don't care, especially if it's a marriage of convenience or some business or political thing.

In my opinion, it's because the person who has been cheated on has a very poor opinion of themselves and they stay with the person who cheated on them because they really can't think anyone else would want them...it's so sad, because the person who was cheated on (male or female) should REALIZE that there IS someone special out there who will love them, and respect them. I really feel for people like that. It's all a matter of self esteem. What the person who has been cheated on SHOULD do is kick the cheater to the CURB. "Once A Cheater, Always A Cheater"

Because the person refuses to believe what the person did ,the person who was cheated believes that that guy is still loyal to him/her,he/she refuses to see the negative in the person and only sees the person as "good".

It's a self-esteem issue. They sometimes believe they can't find anyone else. For others, they think that maybe if they change what they do, the other person will change. Some just believe they haven't loved the other person enough, and that will magically wipe everything away.
