Yes, absolutely, it would get worse.

In my article entitled "The Caliphate" and in "Know your Enemy-101" I've examined the goals of Al-Qaeda.

They are absolutely salivating over the possibility of a US withdrawal from Iraq and establishing it as their future base of operations. It would for example free up thousands of their fighters from that battlefield.

Considering there were no terrorist in Iraq prior to our invasion I doubt if our leaving will somehow create more in Iraq. What Iraq is going through, and will be going through whether we leave or stay, is a civil war. Basically Sunni versus Shite. By our militarys own numbers Al Quaeda fighters account for only about 8% of the insurgents in Iraq. Now has our invasion and over throw of a stable government in Iraq opened the door for influences we do not want? Absolutely. I have not seen anyone, not even the most hardcore Dem in Washington, call for a complete and total withdrawl from Iraq. We created the mess and we'll have troops there for 20 years to come. What the Dems have been pushing for and hoping that the administration would also be after is a political solution. The Iraqi government must step up, get the parties in the civil war talking, and reach some compromises. Without that we could have 200,000 troops in Iraq and the problems will continue.

"TERRORISM" is a big scare word---it has always existed
and will continue to exist all over the world. When I was
young it was called "Bolshevism"---the Hearst newspapers
always carried cartoons of a man with a Beard,a Fur Hat,
and long cloak, carrying a bomb that looked like a billiard
ball with a burning fuse. Sen. McCarthy referred to everyone
as "Communists" as did many Right Wingers, especially
if you belonged to a Trade Union or read books by
Howard Fast.
In other parts of the world envious of
our success we were called "Capitalists" ( I never
became one of those---that's for sure !!)

I spent many years in the area you mentioned---the
White House was seemingly unaware of what I
knew---The Shiite Muslims comprised over 70%
of the population----when we established
"Democracy" guess who gained control of the
country !
Iran (next door ) is over 90% Shiite Muslim---
going back 200 years in the desert, the Shiites
blame the Sunnis for ambushing & killing the
Son-in-law of Mohammad (Ali)
This is the basisof the feuding
which tough-guy Saddam kept under
control but which now runs rampant and will continue
whether we go or stay !
Incidentally.Vietnam which I recently visited---is doing
quite well---lots of American businesses,too..
Don't worry, unless you live in California,it has Earthquakes!

Yes. The Iraq War was not the best decision, but leaving Iraq is like repeating Vietnam when the country fell apart more than it was already and the terrorists WILL rebuild if we withdraw. I guarantee that. Al-Qaeda rebuilt after the Soviets withdrew from Afghanistan and became the most powerful they ever were. We can't make the same mistake that we have made in previous times by withdrawing.

No it wont get worse and if you leave now you will have more money to spend on badly needed border security instead of running a wild goose chase in Iraq.

Incidents of global terrorism have gone up since we went in there, in part, BECAUSE we're there.
