I'm just wondering because I often get emails to sign something that will go all over the internet and around the world. After so many signatures they will send it in. Seems these can be easily forged so what good are they? I care about the causes but wonder if the email petitions are any help. Thanks!

It could; the only one I have ever seen made a difference though it the one that the AFA (American Families Association) put out against Madonna coming down from the ceiling on a huge lit up cross while she was to perform "Like a Prayer" for a network special that was to occur 11/06. It gather nearly a quarter of a million signatures against it and the network that aired her special edited that particular network special because of the petition.

Sure it didn't hurt either when many websites started a petition to not pardon Paris Hilton when she cajoled on her friends to start a website asking Gov. Arnold to pardon her from any jail time...the one website that I signed a petition on NOT to pardon her had over 10,000 signatures within the first hour is was posted.

In general one voice means nothing..thousands mean a lot..sometimes it only takes one voice/determined person to start the protest.

I don't think email petition will help because there will be millions of versions of the email.

I think however that petitions that link you to a site to sign your name would actually work and help (if the site is reputable)!

Kudos to you for caring about the world's problems!
