Is one of the hoses coming off the reserve tank lid supposed to be not connected to drain to anywhere specific?

Some cars have reserve tanks that have a hose to nothing. It's so if the overflow tank gets too full it just leaks to the ground. This would have just ment the system had WAY too much coolant in there.

This is suppose to be an enclosed system. Hoses go from the the overflow to the rad. They do not dribble onto the ground. Check out another of the same car.
Mine is a totally enclosed loop - there is no loss to the ground.

In the old cars there was no reserve tank and the water just went onto the ground. These were vehicles that overheated as they never checked those levels which were go by the time they found out - stranded in the middle of nowhere.

Dumps under your car. The smaller tank is an expansion tank, not a reserve tank. It keeps the radiator constantly full. The expansion tank overflow tube is just there to make sure someone under the hood isn't hosed with hot coolant, and to channel that hot stuff safely away.

There is one hose from the radiator(input) and an overflow in case the tank overfills (output). The intent of the output is to send excess water to the ground, this hose should be a few feet long and go to the bottom of the car so things don't get that coolant and crappy water over the engine etc.

It's just a vent, and doesn't connect to anything.
