The toshiba laptop tecra s2 is booting, after the toshiba logo comes then there is a screen which asks to login through safe mode, through networking, through command prompt, last known good configuration, normally. After this screen, I bet a blue screen which says the system is shut down abruptly, it gives me an advice to use chkdsk command in the command prompt, I cannto even use the recovery CDs. please help me to repair windows or what do i need to do.

What happens if you choose safe mode- do you still get the blue screen?

Usually, you just boot from the recovery CD- just make sure it's in the drive before starting the machine. You might need to go into SETUP (while the Toshiba logo is onscreen, it should say which key to press) and change the boot device priority- the CD drive must be higher priority than the hard disk.

From the info you have given, It sounds like your Hard Drive has crashed or has so many bad sectors it can't boot.
