If you like a person, limits of respect are automatically imposed. Liking prevents negative actions, but respect doesn't prevent the negative energy that comes from being disliked or hated. Respect just means distance for me, especially when it belongs to close relationships.

Respect. I don't care if anyone likes me or not, but I was raised to Respect everyone and if you respect, you earn respect back.

Most of us just show respect when we like someone, right?

Being respected is far more important then being liked. You can tell when people respect you by the way they treat you.

being respected, i think it should go hand in hand. people respect your prof for his talent but he is disliked for his grouchiness; but if you come to think of it do you think he is in that proffesion to be liked or to be popular or to be well accepted? hes not into politics or showbizness that he needs to be friendly, he is a proffesional college instructor, and for him, giving great lessons and teaching his students well is his utmost concern. It only means he dont exert efforts to be mr. congeniallity bec its not his line of work. but, what if in real life, around his family and friends, what if he is the most friendly person they have..just a thought though..lol i said to much!
