Everytime I answer a question on Craigslist, lately some radical person comes out and uses the word, Homophobe, implyihng I have a fear of homosexuals. This is not true, and an incorrect branding of my, and what I stand for...so I decided that maybe they could be considered, Hetrophobic,..does that make sense?

I didn't know someone else already coined, it, and surely wouldn't want to take credit for something I didn't do..and no, I am not a 'closet' homosexual,..is that the best you can come up with? and if you avoid these things, why did you answer HUH???

Hey Angel. The "Homophobe" term is way too over-used, and I'm so tired of it. This is what is termed, "a defensive crutch word." That is, it is used to make someone else think they have the problem that needs to be dealt with. When in fact, the opposite is true. The Homophobe name is also part of political correctness - creating a time-in-culture era where speaking about the gay community is met with disapproval. If that goal is met, then the gay community can be as out spoken as they wish, and behave any way they want without criticism. In the meantime, there's always the threat of criticism.

Homophobe is a convenient "Grab- a - word" to toss out at someone who doesn't agree with or isn't concerned or interested in the homosexual's lifestyle. Phobia- is defined as "fear"... and no one I know is remotely afraid of homosexuals. People throwing that word and entitling someone a homophobe, are being just as discriminatory as someone who calls anyone an invalid NAME out of anger or intolerance or just general lack of understanding towards another view. We are supposed to adjust our views to cater to theirs, BUT they can't do the opposite and we get called nonsensical names.. isn't that kinda contradictory?
I think a more realistic and suitable name based on how people who are called Homophobes are thinking should be : Homo-aversion (that would be more accurate) hate it or not LOL...
Have a great one! =)

I think people who label you as this are simply not tolerant to the fact that not everyone agrees with their lifestyle. Hm, you have an interesting point! In fact, many of these people you speak of call people like myself "breeders"...must be jealous!

the thing I like best about questions, such as these, is it brings out all the people that I can block lol

If you people are not homophobic why do you waste your valuable time worrying about us?

Is it because you are in the closet then?

there are many sections on YA that contain subjects, beliefs and 'lifestyles' I disagree with so I stay away from them

let me repeat that: I have no interest in them so I stay away from them!!

i don't think so. I guess a heterophobe would be a homo who is creeped out by normal people. There are a lot of straight people who don't like people that judge homos. That doesn't make them a "heterophobe"
