You will get American interest very early the key is that during this time the games need to be very exciting in order to keep that interest. If there are to many nil-nil games or the play is sloppy the interest will quickly fade with what we Americans call band-wagoners. Of course there will be commercials and limelight on Becks. But this could be a good thing IF the MLS can keep that early interest and build on it.

Well, right now at Beckhams age...and play...i think he'll be in alot more commercials from Gilette and expect some movies with him in them....You're a football star and you're in an american team...Yeah, definitely...
