I'm considered liberal and am vehemently against it. I believe most liberals are against it because it crosses the line and offends even the most liberal. I was just wondering if the liberals are viewed as backing this plan en masse, because I don't think they do.

Lynn-I'm unaware that 90% of attorneys are democrats. Do you have any links to back that up?

allen--"we all where immigrants at one time or another, so why not them"......only the latinos and politicians are for amnesty and that is a small portion of the liberals so while I agree with most of your post, I disagree with the above assumption.

There is the fact that Democrats in congress want to give amnesty. If you voted for them and they do not represent you are you going to continue to vote for them? Seriously, for me this was a make or break deal, one of my guys voted for it and I am going to do everything I can to see him lose the next election.

If you are not going to do the same, then I believe it is certainly justifiable that you be labeled as a supporter of amnesty.

The 80% of the people that were vehemently against amnesty showed that this is most definately a bipartisan issue. The dissappointment in that the majority of democrats politicians that supported it gives way to that belief. So I think there is a major disconnect between the democrats voters and who they put in office. Just as there is with the Republicans that voted for it. Clinton and Obama both support it, but I don't see their numbers waining because of it.

The most votes for came from the Dems.

From what I've read from the liberal posters here and elsewhere was a dislike for the punitive measures in the bill and that they do have a desire for an amnesty across the board.

I hope that what you say is true, that you are opposed to this ideal. I also hope that you vote to remove supporters of such from the ranks of your party.

Yes, because in the last vote for the amnesty bill, the majority of Democrats voted Yea, and the majority of Republicans voted Nay! Sounds to me like the majority of Republicans are the ones listening to Americans!

If you didn't mean politicians, why did you ask your question in politics? Everyone in one way, or another is a politician, Sir, including you. Look the word up in a dictionary, and know the truth!

I am not a conservative but obviously liberal politicians backed the bill more than conservatives did. How many of their followers agree with them, hard to tell. Doesn't look like very many. And how would anyone know that 90% of attorneys are Liberal, Lyn G? Since most are probably rich, I doubt that number.

Most immigrants are law-abiding taxpayers doing the jobs that Americans don't want to do anymore. Unfortunately, this seems to include careers in math and science.

We Americans continue to be incredibly selfish; immigrants such as my grandfather and my mother came here because their home countries were oppressing them racially or economically (or both).

We are all the descendants of immigrants. Unless a particular immigrant is a criminal, they should all be granted amnesty so that they can work harder and enter the middle class ASAP.

The defeat of the "Amnesty Bill" was one of the most visible signs that that Libs and Cons can at least agree on something. The polls were overwhelmingly against its passage, so obviously, many Libs had to be against illegal immigration as well as the Cons.

Yeah for common sense!

i could desire to work out some data that we do in comparison to immigrants. merely one occasion. What we do in comparison to are human beings coming throughout the time of our borders illegally (this is a legal to realize this with the aid of how) and suck on the teat of our social classes and it happens on a daily basis. they must be made to bypass in the process a similar technique as the different person desirous to come back to this united states of america. i do no longer blame them for desirous to be right here because of the fact they're getting out of a third international cesspool yet they must do it the suitable way. in case you bypass the border into Mexico illegally the punishment identity 5 years in a Mexican penitentiary. You get caught a 2nd, it is ten years. Why the exchange in heart? because of the fact something should be carried out illegals value us billions and billions each and every 3 hundred and sixty 5 days. in the event that they are able to come back up with a equipment it is something yet amnesty i'm particular human beings could be open to that technique. yet they must bypass throught a similar technique as anybody else.

Since everybody is throwing out numbers, I'll say that 100% of Republicans easily don't know their butt from a hole in the ground! I am a liberal, and I don't have a clue what the solution to the illegal alien problem is!
Obviously they are here! There is no way to round them all up and send them back where they came from! I don't know what to think! But, I do know this country was built on Immigration!
People are going to keep coming to this country, because their country is a nightmare of either poverty, or brutality from their government! And this country is attractive, because we are at at least safe from brutality at the hands of our government! We suffer from its stupidity, but not its cruelty! Where would us good Christians send them? Any ideas?Amnesty at least is one solution! Come up with a reasonable way of containment and dispersal of these illegal aliens! Everyone is quick to condemn the idea, but can you think of something better? and be Honest!!

I think liberals as a whole are divided on this issue.
But if we look at the larger problem, there are problems in Mexico that are causing them to flee.
It would be better if we helped the government out, not with money necessarily but with setting up a better system.
It is complicated and requires a great deal of diplomacy. My heart goes out to them but I don't want them here. But unfortunately, we haven't been able to effectively deal with the problem on a long-term basis, even short-term is terrible. We need a plan that is based in reality and will lead to better long term results. To do that, we need a serious debate and discussion. Together we can come up with the answer but everyone has to work hard and open up.
