When you speak of sportsman, I look for the athlete that becomes the ambassador for what is great about that sport, not its greatest athlete necessarily.
Football: Pele
American Football: Jim Brown
Boxing: Sugar Ray Robinson
Golf: Jack Nicklaus (Tiger Woods will overtake him some day perhaps)
Tennis: Billie Jean King
Hockey: Wayne Gretzsky

Hockey: Don't know...this is the only sport here that isn't internationally popular
Spartan L: I mentioned George Best, people just sound cooler when you refer to them by their surnames. Fred Perry played in the amateur era and to consider him an all-time great is a joke. Borg couldn't handle the hard courts and quit because Mac took his crown, boo-hoo.
