it wouldn't surprise me, someone is protecting their brethren.

Ok, ok, I suppose you don't really get what I am referring to, hence the idiotic replies, and fancy me saying that, an Essex girl, who would have thought I'd know anything. Unless your really desperate for two points, I wouldn't really answer, I was looking for someone who actually understands what I mean.

Hi it has been suggested previously on here and the other forums. Some people are certain he is a Freemason, as Rothley apparently has quite a big Freemason group there.
Obviously its kept top secret who is and who isnt, but the fact that there is a media black out on the negative aspects of the case, i.e them leaving the kids in the first place, leads people to suspect he has powerful friends in all professions.
And we know even Gordon Brown rings him up.
I cant provide any links but I have certainly seen it said, on here and other forums. Try the Daily Mirror one.

I do not know a "bad" freemason, and I know lots of them. I think that the secrecy of the case is because of the Portugese police, I read on Gerry's blog today that he and Kate would like to defend themselves more but they can not because of the Portugese rules. I am NOT pro McCann, I have my own suspicions about them and the case but I do not suspect that Freemasonry has anything to do with it. I am sure that Gerry is getting emotional support from his fellow brethren, as they would give to anyone in his situation but am very oppose to the belief that there is something untoward going on in that way at least. I think that eventually, the public will find out the truth about what happened on that terrible evening but whilever the McCanns are still in Portugal, the secrecy will remain.

Not another conspiracy theory about the McCanns. I really don't know how far Masonry has infiltrated the Portuguese Police? In any case I heard he was an Illuminati.

I know exactjy what you mean, so does another user who took it further and who is now having major problems with Q/A, [ maybe a coincidence but i doubt it ] .
EDIT ; Bulldog george is right, many Catholics are Freemasons.

I think you give the Freemasons a little to much credit. Besides, secret bonding rituals aside, what would anyone get out of protecting him? How would it benefit them? I just don't see it.

Yes he is, as are Gordon Brown, Tony Blair, and most "high-ranking" Judges, Politicians, Police, etc.

To whoever it was stated as a "fact" that you can not be a Mason and a Catholic, Im afraid you are very wrong, many Catholics are Freemasons.

He is a human bank. Although I wouldn't save my money with him. I prefer the type of bank that is made of bricks and mortar at least I know my money will be safe.

That's funny I heard he was an alien from Mars but I'm not sure because someone else said he was from Jupiter.

The brethren I know of, who have expressed an opinion on him, would prefer not to have him as a member of their brotherhood.

none of them would admit or deny it.

One of them has said,"he has not been mentioned in prayers"
With that, I assume he is not a freemason.

It is not possible for him to be a Freemason as he and his family are Roman Catholics.

Surprised that nobody remembers in the early days seeing them at church services.
