Rain in a big soil eroder. Its a very rainy country. Some parts of India are the rainiest in the world. Plus with modernization there has been a lot of logging and clearing of land and that really makes soil erosion worse because there aren't any plants left to hold the soil down.

India's northern border is blocked by mountains, some of the biggest in the world. This would hold any storm front inside that came in, typhoons or otherwise, leading to erosion. Most likely the system would simply follow the mountains as far as it could until it spent itself out (most likely) or finally escaped somehow from the mountain range. This is alot of water to erode with and its always being carried a-w-a-y.

india is population dense. it is one of the most if not the most population dense counties in the world trhat is people per square kilometer. India has the world's second highest population and a rising , developing economy. more than 50 percent of india's population is engaged in agriculture.
put all these factors together, u have trees cut down for farmland, development of homes, shops, roads, industries, dump sites, also considering india's tropical monsoon climate, and u have more exposed soil without the protection of trees and u have very bad soil erosion.
