Jealousy is a form of insecurity. It is also a form of hate. We can not succeed in life if we are so centered on hatred that we can not see the "Big Picture". Ask yourself a question when you think of jealousy.. "Has it ever gotten you anywhere?" Jealolusy only destroys. It destroys those consumed by it. It attempts to destroy those it is aimed at. Think about this.. how many lives were lost last year because of jealousy. Children, women, men lost their lives because someone was consumed with jealousy

May be it is just used to motivate for people who prefer to be passive, inactive , in the 'name' of self-satisfied'... like they say, a 'healthy competition' , a little bit of envy ( a better word than 'jealoused') might inspire or motivate.
This works only when a person is yet to love the very process of attempting to perform, to achieve, and is yet to understand the benefits of the goals.

Jealousy is a natural animal instinct. It did have a purpose in the jungle, but not anymore. Vengeance is also a natural instinct, with a purpose. When combined they become Hate. Someone may be jealous of you, and find that offensive. So they may seek vengeance against you when you have done nothing to them, maybe even for NOT doing something they thought you should. This behavior is so obvious in religious extremist terrorists.
No, jealousy is sub-human.

NO! Not in the least. Being jealous only brings out negative feelings in you. It misguides you, your purpose, and sets you on a wrong path.
You were not meant to have what someone else has. You were meant to discover YOUR purpose. If you spend all your time pursuing what your neighbour has, you will always be lost.
Even the bible says do not covet the neighbours ox and a.s.s. etc...there is a reason why this is.
You can succeed by learning to not let those feelings overwhelm you. You may THINK others have it better, but you don't know. They are missing the beauty of the simple things, they are blind to what really matters, they know not true friendships, possibly not even true love...they lack for many things and money doesn't make up for it.
One think I've come to realize over the years is that people who once poo-pooed our way of life, our decisions (we once won a lottery combined with several of our friends who pooled together...) and it's funny to see how many years later, the "haves" who spent thier money one way....are suddenly jealous of US, who spent their money wisely and invested it. Theirs is gone...on the spur of a whim they bought something that lost value and is gone now...we invested in something that made money and are better off.
One set of friends even said to us Wow, I can't believe the money we've spent in day care over the years...we've basically been paying others to raise our kids. (I stayed home and raised mine).
So in the end, basically those who once thought I should be jealous of them and their lives are now jealous of me and mine, which was a simple life, not led by the pursuit of the almighty dollar and all it can buy. Their kids have all sorts of social problems, (drinking/smoking/drugs) and my kids don't. Mine spend their summers at a camp for kids/siblings with cancer, are working there as leaders and play sports and do well in school.
Our friends had spent all thier money foolishly and it went, and I planned for the future with mine and have a nice home now...so you know what? We all make our own destinies and should not look at someone else's lives to determine how to shape ours. If I had followed thier foolish whims I would have nothing now and who knows how much more difficult our lives would be and how bitter and resentful I might be.

Actually i feel it's not Jealousy but the spirit of "COMPETITION" and the intense desire 4 heart " To be the Best" and feel the "Best"....which is required to be a succesful person in life!!
"Jealousy is good only till it boost us to be the Best but not totally force, depress & ill us to be the best"
I personally feel being Competitive is better than being jealous!!....but being jealous is obvious and good till a certain limit 2 !!!

My bf says he hates jealousy so I guess it's not good for me or I get a tongue-lashing from him. You know I never heard of that saying you quoted but there is a somewhat similar saying that goes "if you want to get what you want, you have to want it so bad". This saying just pertains to your own desire to drive you and not triggered by something/someone outside of yourself which is the object of jealousy. You will never succeed if you always base your accomplishments on somebody else's. You have to be good for yourself and not for anybody else.

We should not be Jelous with anyone,
to succeed in life you should have competition.... but also when you have a competition with another you should not have a jelousy mind,
e.g. you should think that i have to do something more or better than what the others had done & then to do it by ur own effort, not to push the other person down & come up in life or whatever....
so i hope u understood what i mean... its dificult for me to explain in english... anyways i hope u understood...

It is a thousand times good for you to remain unsuccessful in life without jealousy than to succeed through jealousy.Jealousy breeds slavery and ultimately makes us hate ourselves in everything we do.
