I've gotten great ideas for our outfits from the Halloween section but I figured someone in this catagory might understand how to help create it more.We need to be able to create a realistic looking Prince Charming costume for two boys.We were thinking along these lines:

First, the link you gave to the "Disney Prince" wasn't correct and doesn't work... the link didn't have a space after it so the "My" from the next sentence got added to the link.

Here is the actual link:

As for that type of outfit, you could just buy a dark jacket from a thrift store, then add embellishments to it. The jacket would have to be the type that comes to the neck (not a suit jacket) so you could add a stand-up collar (not that hard), then remove any buttons or zipper, etc., and add
large metallic "buttons" (fake or real) and metallic trim instead just sewed onto the front that overlaps (hold the jacket closed with Velcro or pins underneath so you wouldn't have to make buttonholes, etc.).
Also add trim around the cuffs (buy cheap at fabric store).

The epaulets could be made from "fringe" trim bought at a fabric store also, then attached to stiff fabric or even cardboard, shoulder pieces (painted or covered with fabric).

The pants could just be dark pants, with a little trim added (you could narrow the legs of the pants a bit if needed).

Depending on how fancy you want to get, you could even use sweat jacket or pants, or various types of women's jackets, etc.

As for the cloak, that's pretty easy but will take a LOT of fabric, so buy something cheap at fabric store (even remants), or use something like a blanket or tablecloth, etc.

To give you an idea of various styles of Prince outfits, you can go to a bookstore like Barnes and Nobles and look under the theater or performing arts section. I have seen a book that had period clothing for the theater in it. It showed different designs including instructions how to make the outfits and even a little background history of them. If you live in an area that has a renaissance faire or active community theaters, contact people associated with them and they can also give you some good ideas or maybe tell you who can help. A local high school or college theater department can also provide you with information and most of them will be more than glad to help you.
