Because they had relied on " we the people" to put in veto proof majorities to do what " we the people" wanted. They did not.
Once you continue to have twits who support this President taking this country over a cliff no matter what, then all the changes you want to make cannot be accomplished once there is the veto pen.
I listen to people bit*h and complain about the " do nothing
Congress" yet when they had the chance to make a difference, they sat on their as*es and did nothing. They either did not vote OR they said, " Pubs are a pain but I really like my own even though s/he really isn't doing what I want but I'll keep s/he."
Case in point, we have soldiers going for their 5th TOUR in Iraq with hardly a break. Sen. Jim Webb introduced a bill to support the troops by making sure they get the break they deserve for retraining etc. It was filibustered by the Republicans and the so called Independent Joe Lieberman, who basically say they should not get the break they need to recover mentally and physically. Yet these people were re-elected and will probably retain their seats next year because as much as people bit*h most don't want to change their representative in Congress.

Actually, this is making both parties in Congress look bad. Remember, there are still a lot of Republicans in Congress. Their inability to come to a consensus on important issues isn't that surprising. At least there is now some oversight. I thought that Congress disappeared before the Dems got in. Think about it, what did the 109th Congress actually do?

Because if the Republicans HAD won, we would probably be sending all the military off to Iraq for 100 more years, No questions would have been asked of Libby or Cheney's wrong doings.... Want me to go on???
The fact is with an idiot like Dubya we are going to face veto after veto after veto. But if there is a different, more open minded (and ELECTED) President in office after 2008- things should look better.

Because they ran on promises they had no intention of keeping. They said they were going to "Re-deploy the troops" which they do not have the authority to do and at that they all voted for the war. I heard this one goofy guy say in one of his campaigns "Well, First I voted for it then I voted against" I almost choked on my "Ketchup" when I was laughing at that one

Nothing has changed. The democrats have no power, and all they can do is ***** and complain, and ignore more important business that needs to get done. It's business as usual for the libs. Bush did this, and Bush did that. They can't win the Whitehouse so they continue to bash Bush. That's all they've got. Sad!

Fortunately Congress has enough Republican Bush subs to counter the Democrats. The God Damned Democrats don't have enough votes to overrule Bush. Even though America hates our Great Leader he can still force his decisions down our throats, which is pretty HOT!

Because that wouldn't have gotten them elected. Why are the dems and libs now saying congress' low approval rating is all because of the republicans still in congress? They were there before and the ratings didn't drop until the dems got in...

How bout one for the Republican party.
"Vote for us and we will screw you!"
Im a conservative!
Or this one.
Congress, the no lube political body!
Or this one.
If we don't get you in the house, we'll get you in the Senate!
