This is actually a good question, but I have a feeling you will get alot of arguments. The only thing I can say for myself is that I don't judge people by how they look or what they wear. No matter what it is. This is a lesson we learn the hard way sometimes: Don't judge a book by it's cover. With that said, I think there are too many who do judge by looks and appearance in the world. You are right about the relationship between a person and God being the important thing.

But since I am a woman I will tell you what kind of man I would prefer to marry. A kind man, with a good heart and loving soul. Even if this means he has NO MONEY. Again, I would not look at anything about his past as a determining factor. I know this was not one of your three choices, but that is who I would pick.

I am not muslim, i am not an egyptian. I am from england, i live here in egypt and therefore take an interest in this section.
I am not in a position to answer the question in the same way as most. I have read all the answers, found the female answers most interesting especially Rana,Farah and Ministry of comm.
I was married to an egyptian man, he had two sisters one of 16 and one of twenty, he told me he had never ever seen either uncovered, for a christian i thought this was something very strange as it was my belief that females only covered outside of the home not inside - this is just one perception of non-egyptians.

What is it about this page that when you mention your english you normally get thumbs down? Noticed this with others or they get no point at all and their answers are good and to the point - and also i don't think you don't have to write a book to get your point across. It is not just for the egyptians or surrounding countries - let us show some love to our brothers and sisters?

For me all I wanted was a man who is religious and yi3raf rabina in a true and moderate manner (not a fundamentalist or a fanatic). I didn't care if he had fallen in love prior to meeting me as long as he had not disobeyed the orders of Allah (SWT). What counted is what he had done from the moment we committed to each other. If a guy really follows the teachings of Islam, then he will treat his wife properly even if he dislikes some aspects of her personality or has an argument with her.

Plus, he had to be taller than me since I'm really tall! :D Al7amduliallah, my husband is my Mr. Right!

As a guy, of course #1 #3 is negated by #1...meaning that if a girl has a relationship with and fears Allah(swt) she must do what? she must obey the messenger (saws) and he made it clear that a woman must cover. There is no dispute in this by any scholar. Contrary to what some uncovered sisters WANT to believe. Its on thing for a sister to admit she must cover but is struggling with it, quite another to deny. So yes there are some sisters that cover and arent really modest. But thats not the point, you cant stop praying when u do bad thing, u still must fast...and insha'Allah people will realize and work harder to become modest, obedient muslims. Jazak Allah, salaams

lol i am gonna star this question, its really interesting!

well i honestly dont care if he had sex before or not, everybody makes mistakes. i just dont want a man who did it ALOT, because then i wouldnt trust him. and he could have AIDS, and he could have kids hiding somewhere, and it is just plain WRONG. also if i said i wanted a clean man, that would single out 80% of men ahh its sad what has happened in society these days!

so it is either 2 or 3, either is fine with me.

Any one of them
but we have always to improve our relation with Allah
ie. she will have to think about wearing the veil & knowing more about the respnsabilities after it (not just a dress)
in order to improve our selves as muslims we have to make some effort in improving ourselves interms of improving our relation with Allah
if we just staied as we are we will go down the ladder
