From what I have heard it is legal to unrestrict a moped as long as you don't exceed 30mph, is this true?

Is it illegal to ride a 49cc moped with a 70cc bore kit at 16 with a provisional license?

Any extra info would be greatly appreciated.

Who's gonna know that it has a big bore kit in it?
Inspection stations don't check for it.
Police wouldn't even know what you were talking about if you told them your moped had a big bore kit.
Unless you were going over 29mph and the police stopped you for some traffic infraction (running a red light, speeding, failure to stop, etc), the big bore kit will be fine.
It has to be a moped, not a scooter.
A scooter, no matter the size, is considered a motorcycle.
Keep it under 29mph and you'll be fine.

verify back to make effective that the regulation isn't "250cc and up" - which might answer your question good away. yet, even that doesn't sound good to me. The aerodynamics of a 250cc moped may well be thoroughly diverse than that of a activities motorcycle, and the using traits are additionally undeniably diverse. And, on an identical time as a 249cc Ninja could desire to in all danger be listed as a moped in terms of engine length (although i've got by no skill heard of all and sundry who's accomplished it), i will just about assure that that's going to be categorized as a "activities motorcycle" by making use of an coverage company. Plus, in case you get caught dashing on it - which you just about easily will - and you have not any coverage, tags, or license, you're probable going to get into massive project with the regulation. coverage companies slap a "activities motorcycle" classification on rattling close to each little thing. I used to own a Yamaha YZF600R, which maximum might label as a activities-traveling equipment, yet my coverage company listed it as a activities motorcycle and that i became charged double for coverage. this could pose an identical project while registering your motorcycle. needless to say a 250cc Ninja isn't a moped. it is going to likely be ridden a lot swifter than a moped, and you would be using it as a activities motorcycle, as antagonistic to a moped, once you're using with different larger cc motorcycles. you do not see too many mopeds carving corners on mountain roads, so i don't think of it will artwork. ...yet, good luck after all.

It is legal to ride an unrestricted 49cc scooter/moped if you have a full driving licence issued before 2001 or you have a full driving licence issued after 2001 AND have passed the CBT.

The speed you choose to travel at has absoloutely nothing to do with it.

Yes it is ilegal to ride a 70cc bore kit on a provisional licence.

No ,derestricting or bore kits are illegal on mopeds at 16.
Best option is buy a classic 50cc bike.It has more power than the modern stuff and will be cheap to insure.eg,try and get a suzuki zr50s or mbx 50 honda

Restrictions are placed on these smaller bikes to meet local moped law requirements. Therefore, if the restrictions were removed, the vehicle would no longer meet the requirements for a moped and fall under motorcycle status....

....BUT, who needs to know! Keep it to yourself what you do to YOUR bike and get lost in the crowd of other moped riders that have done the same thing to their bikes.

It's not illegal unless they catch you and how would they know unless they tore the bike down?
