I borrowed my newly turned 17 yr old daughter's laptop to do some work and when I clicked on the browser bar to to see if google was already there, 2 porn sites were also. Would she have had to actually type these in or could they be there from going to another website? I have typed in something like youtube.com and a porn site came up on the screen. Could it be something like this?? It wouldn't be her norm (or so I would think) and she denies going to it.

Perhaps it was an accident- the internet is full of sites like that, and I know from experience that it isnt hard to type in the wrong address and come up with something unexpected. Try trusting your daughter- if she says she didnt, she probably didnt and if she's lying its probably better to make her feel guilty about it because you trust her rather than pursue the subject

Somebody had to type the address in the address bar for it to be there unless the computer is spam or virus infested. It may have easily been a friend too that typed them in there. Regardless, she's almost an adult and porn is common in a young sex life these days and is healthy and normal so don't overreact or worry.
The reason I mentioned about the computer being spam or virus infested is because it is possible that a spam or virus program is forcing the browser to redirect to another site no matter what address was typed. It's a common trait of an infected PC.

Check the browser history.
Years ago, before I purchased my own computer, I was at the public library researching something, when, right in the middle of my search, a porn site appeared. The library has blocks on this type of activity, but it came up anyway.

She could have received email or spam, with the links provided by the source. If she clicked on links that were in the emails, she would have been taken to those sites. However, if she saved them to her favourites (after viewing them), that would have been her own doing (to save them as a bookmark).
