Yeah, that's a big one. Forst of all, many, many citizens can't run for the office because they were not born in the USA. There are other barriers as well involving age, property, etc.
But despite all that, its totally unrealistic to think that you can just run for President if you suddenly have great ideas to fix the country. If you are outside the existing political system and structure, then its virtually impossible. there is only one path to the White Houe and that's through the 2 party system.
Even billionaires and very brilliant people have not been able to get close to winning.

It’s not a myth. Bill Clinton came from rather humble beginnings and became president. Of course, it is a lot easier if you have the family connections that Bush had.
For people without connections, I think there is an opportunity for any individual who is bright enough, hard working, ambitious and willing to persist despite disappointments.
So far, it has been impossible for an African American or a woman but things are changing.

Yes they can, if they follow the correct career path.
Johnson came from a poor back ground.
Nixon, Ford, Reagan, Clinton all came from middle class backgrounds.
Carter came from an upper middle class back ground.
Now, if you mean can any adult be president, then the answer is no.
Your local butcher has no chance of being president at all.
But if he had followed a different career path, then yes he would have had a chance.

everybody might nicely be president you in basic terms decide for alot of funds a fantastically face and to be in the the basically right option social gathering and say the the basically right option issues on the the basically right option time and you win. in case you look at it, u.s. has become historic Rome, back in the days whilst the republic fell because of the fact of corrupted elections and conflict hero leaders. we'd desire to alter issues if u.s. is to be a great superpower as quickly as back and shelter the freedoms and rights that have been initially given to us, appropriate now we are dropping those issues.

This latest herd of wannabes, from both sides of the aisle, wouldn't support this urban legend. The last guy who held top office, and was truly from humble means, was Harry Truman. Granted, not all of them had deep pockets, but their political skills were already in place.
Clinton was probably the trailer trash of presidential hopefuls, this may have been part of his appeal to the libs who thought a guy from humble means might make the difference. Boy, were they wrong !

Yes, I believe it is. It's relegated to a select few whom I believe are already 'pre-chosen'.
Check out Bilderberg sometime and realize that they do exist. :)
