go by its literal meaning...these are things that are made to resist something...in electrical engineering...resistors are meant to reisist the flow of electircity in other words...they reisit the flow of electricity by a certain measure...the measure being Ohms....(dats the guy who discovered the entire concept of resistance)
whom are you resisting....
